MBIP News July 2019

We’re very happy to announce that Jeremy Moller has been promoted to Senior Associate.

Jeremy’s an Australian registered patent and trade mark attorney with qualifications in mathematics and electrical engineering and has more than 5 years’ experience working at MBIP and previously at Cullens and Fisher Adams Kelly.

Jeremy’s practice at MBIP is focussed on helping innovative businesses and individuals to secure patents, primarily in the electrical, electronic and IT fields.

Principal Andy Mukherji congratulated Jeremy on his ascension to Senior Associate, saying “Jeremy’s promotion reflects the hard work he’s put in to building the firm and the consistently good feedback that we receive about him from clients.”

In other exciting news, this year Michael Buck IP celebrates 10 years of practicing in Queensland.

To commemorate the milestone the firm held a dinner party at the boutique Ovolo Incholm Hotel in Spring Hill on June 29 with overnight accommodation for all firm members.  It was a treat for all with fine food and drink, comfy rooms and much laughter. It will be a long remembered evening.

Both Principals are very proud of the firm’s growth and the fact that it has remained an independent, Queensland-based, entity.

The firm was established by Michael Buck and his wife Megan in 2009. At that time, MBIP was located in a small retail shop in Taringa, and some four years later moved to larger premises nearby. In 2016 Andy Mukherji joined the firm. Due to ongoing growth the firm made the big move, on a very hot and dusty January 2018 weekend, to the old Commonwealth Bank building in Red Hill.

Today, the firm has 15 permanent team members, including five patent attorneys and two specialist trade mark attorneys. Our patent attorneys are able to assist clients in the areas of Electrical Engineering, ICT & Software Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining and Metallurgy, Physics, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Biotechnology.

Earlier this year MBIP was listed among the top 10 filers of Australian provisional patent applications, quite an achievement for a firm of our size and reflective of the firm’s strong emphasis on servicing local businesses and inventors.
